Spirits high at Gunbalanya Day 2025

The Gunbalanya Community Day, held on Sunday, 26 January 2025, was a resounding success, bringing together stakeholders and community members for a day of fun, skill-showcasing, and community spirit.
The event, which took place at the Gunbalanya Oval, featured a diverse range of activities that catered to all ages and abilities.
Over 200 participants enjoyed a slime/colour fun run, spear throwing competition, tug of war, adult sprints, footy, basketball, and an exciting dance-off with lots of prizes and a feed for all.
These activities not only provided entertainment but also highlighted the physical, social, and emotional benefits of community engagement.
The day was made possible through the efforts of various organisations, including Australia Day Council, West Arnhem Regional Council, TeamHealth, AFLNT, Adjumarrlarl, ALPA CDP, Injalak, and Gunbalanya Meatworks.
Community members were also recognised for their contributions to Gunbalanya, reinforcing the event's focus on celebrating local achievements.
The activities were carefully selected based on community input, ensuring high levels of participation and enjoyment.
The spear throwing competition, in particular, allowed participants to showcase their cultural knowledge and skills.
The Gunbalanya Community Day provided a safe, family-friendly environment where people of all ages could interact with each other and with stakeholders.
