West Arnhem Regional Council operates a number of recreational facilities such as swimming pools at Maningrida and Jabiru, basketball courts, indoor youth centres and chill-out spaces. 

These facilities provide a safe space to carry out individual and social activities such as such as netball, basketball, discos, pool parties and workshops such as filmmaking and dance. The team are constantly working with the community to meet their needs and facilitate programs that are engaging, enriching and inclusive. 

Jab pool

Jabiru Alberto Luglietti Memorial Swimming Pool

Cool off and enjoy a swim at the Alberto Luglietti Memorial Swimming Pool in Jabiru, the largest shaded swimming facility in Kakadu National Park.

The Olympic-sized pool is a family-friendly facility featuring children’s play equipment, making it a great place to relax, cool off and enjoy the tropical surroundings.

The pool is open five days a week, with casual entry and seasonal pool passes available. Visitors and tourists are welcome!

The Jabiru Pool also hosts regular activities and events, including underwater hockey and the annual Kakadu Triathlon.

Features: Jumping pillow, children's splash pad and toddler pool, monorail, playground, gym, picnic tables and barbecue, kiosk, showers, mobility lift and more.

Maningrida Community Pool

The 25 metre swimming pool in Maningrida is an important asset to the community. The pool holds regular water exercise sessions, swimming lessons, activities and has extended hours during school holidays.

The facility is a great location for community events and functions and the pool is shaded to beat the Top End heat.

Sport and Recreation Facilities

West Arnhem Regional Council maintains a range of sport and recreation facilities across our communities, providing places for people of all ages to get active, connect and participate in community life.

Facilities include AFL ovals, basketball courts, community halls and youth centres, with Maningrida, Gunbalanya and Jabiru featuring AFL ovals with lighting and grandstand facilities. Jabiru also offers a dedicated soccer oval, tennis courts and netball courts.

Supported by Council’s Youth, Sport and Recreation teams, these facilities are well utilised throughout the year, hosting a diverse mix of indoor and outdoor activities, sporting programs, community events and recreational opportunities for all ages.

The Facilities are also available for hire.

Maningrida Changerooms

The Maningrida Changerooms provide a modern, professional-grade sporting facility for the community. The 600-square-metre facility features team change rooms, toilets and showers, a full-service canteen, undercover seating and accessible parking for people with disability and emergency services.

Designed with inclusion, accessibility and community participation in mind, the facility supports local sporting competitions, community events and recreation activities in Maningrida.

Children’s Playgrounds

Council maintains a range of playgrounds and children’s play equipment across our communities, providing spaces for children and families to enjoy outdoor play.

Many of these facilities have been supported and funded through Local Authorities, reflecting local priorities for community recreation and wellbeing.

Outdoor Gym Equipment

Maningrida and Jabiru also feature outdoor gym equipment available for public use, providing accessible opportunities for community members to exercise, stay active and enjoy the outdoors.
