PUBLIC NOTICE - Jabiru Childcare Centre Update - 13 July 2026

The roof repairs to the Jabiru Childcare Centre have now been completed. However, due to significant water damage to other parts of the building the Centre must remain closed while electrical repairs are completed, and a building certification is obtained confirming the facility is safe to use.

At this stage, it is projected that the Centre will need to remain closed until 1 September 2026 to allow the works to be completed.

West Arnhem Regional Council understands that this closure is challenging for families and carers who rely on the service and sincerely apologises for the disruption this may cause.  The safety of children, families and staff remains our highest priority.

Council is also actively progressing the recruitment of a Centre Manager and intends to make an appointment in the coming weeks. This will ensure the Centre has the staff required to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

We appreciate the community's patience and understanding and will continue to provide updates as works progress.
