Partnerships strengthen at Gunbalanya Community Day

Due to weather conditions, Gunbalanya Community Day was held indoors at the Adjumarllarl Recreation Hall basketball court on 26 January 2026.
A range of activities were delivered throughout the day, including movies, colouring-in, basketball, ball-skills games and the all-time favourite — dodgeball.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including West Arnhem Regional Council, Adjumarllarl Aboriginal Corporation, Clontarf Foundation, and Police. 
Their collaboration demonstrated strong partnership and shared commitment to supporting the community.
Community members of all ages — from babies through to Elders — enjoyed a safe, welcoming and family-friendly environment. 
Activities were appropriately supervised, culturally safe, and designed to encourage participation and connection.
Overall, the day provided an enjoyable opportunity for the community to come together, strengthen relationships between stakeholders and residents, and reinforce positive community partnerships. This event was supported by the Australia Day Council NT.
