Maningrida AFL grand final show down

On Saturday, 22 March, the Maningrida AFL grand finals were held at Maningrida Oval. 
The day was a huge success thanks to the tireless collaboration of West Arnhem Regional Council, Nja-Marleya, AFL NT, NIAA and numerous other stakeholders in providing a well-maintained oval, barbecue on the day, scoreboard facilities and activities for juniors prior to the main events.
The day started with a junior’s scratch match which was well attended and highly entertaining. 
The women’s game was then played and was highly competitive and a great watch. 
The men’s grand final show down then began with team chants, cheerleaders, amazing banners and finally a show down for the ages. After four hard fought quarters the Magpies came out on top with the final score being 8-12-60 Magpies to 7-5-47 Hawks.
Well done to all players as well as staff involved in the facilitation of the event. A great day was had by all.
