Minjilang’s Mamaruni School and West Arnhem Regional Council combined to take the students out on Country for an afternoon. Council’s very own Minjilang Traditional Owner/Custodian, Mr Charles Yirrawala and his family escorted the school group, which included eight kids (8 – 12 years old), teachers and Council staff onto Country and assisted with local knowledge and support earlier this month.

The idea of the trip was to promote stakeholder engagement in Minjilang to achieve outcomes for the community.
It also provided the children from Mamaruni School the opportunity to learn on country in a safe environment.

The students utilised fishing gear purchased from ‘Fishing and Outdoor World’ in Darwin with funds raised from business studies and they all have a great time.
