Jabiru Childcare Centre – Reopening Update
Jabiru Childcare Centre – Reopening Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
West Arnhem Regional Council is pleased to confirm that the Jabiru Childcare Centre is on track to reopen on Tuesday, 1 September 2026.
We are also delighted to welcome our new Early Childhood Manager, Kirsten Kingsford, to Jabiru. Kirsten looks forward to meeting local families and working with the community as we reopen the Centre and rebuild our services.
Limited services from 1 September
As part of a soft reopening, the Centre will initially operate with limited services and a selected number of children able to attend each day.
Operating hours will be:
Monday to Friday
8.40am – 2.40pm
This interim arrangement will remain in place while Council continues to actively recruit and onboard additional staff, with the aim of progressively increasing services and returning the Centre to full operations.
Families and carers will be contacted directly with specific information regarding care arrangements for their child or children.
We acknowledge that this staged reopening may not meet the immediate needs of all families. However, it is an important and positive step towards restoring full operations of this community service.
Enrolments and the waitlist remain open. More information is available on the West Arnhem Regional Council website.
Council understands how challenging the closure has been for families and carers who rely on the service, and we sincerely thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time.
We look forward to welcoming children and families back to the Jabiru Childcare Centre and building strong, positive connections with our community.
