Further upgrades to Gunbalanya Oval

The Gunbalanya community can look forward to a new and improved sports oval very shortly with contractors currently on site.
The upgrades to the important community facility will include resurfacing, line marking and irrigation works, including sprinkler replacements, in the pipeline.
These improvements aim to provide a higher standard of playing field for the community to enjoy various sports and recreational activities.
There has been positive feedback from community already with the oval looking very green and residents commenting that they can’t wait to play football on it. And, it won't be long before other communities are invited to come along and play.
These works will further enhance the facility following the completion of the new Oval Lights in September 2024, which now enable night games - a fantastic addition for local sports and events.
A huge thanks to the Northern Territory Government and the Gunbalanya Local Authority for supporting these valued community projects.

Council also thanks the Gunbalanya Community for avoiding the oval whilst this work is being carried out. It is expected to be completed by 6 December 2024.
Please note, the oval gates will be temporarily locked closed to allow the seeded oval to stabilise growth before use.
