The popular Kakadu Triathlon will return to Jabiru on Saturday, 2 May 2026, with competitors set to take to the Jabiru Swimming Pool and surrounding residential roads for a morning of fun, fitness and fundraising.

Online registrations are now open for the much-loved event, proudly hosted by West Arnhem Regional Council.

Now in its 13th year, the Kakadu Triathlon has become a highlight on the Top End sporting calendar. Known for its shorter distances and welcoming atmosphere, the event encourages people of all ages and abilities to get involved and give triathlon a go.

Last year’s event saw around 150 adult and 40 junior competitors take part, with the community helping raise more than $16,400 for CareFlight NT.

The event is built on strong partnerships between West Arnhem Regional Council, CareFlight, Darwin Triathlon Club, Triathlon NT and local sponsoring businesses, all working together to bring the event to life each year.

West Arnhem Regional Council Mayor James Woods said the event continues to showcase the strength of community spirit in Jabiru and across the region.

“The Kakadu Triathlon is a fantastic example of how sport can bring people together while supporting an important cause,” Mayor Woods said.

“It’s not just about racing – it’s about community, participation and getting behind CareFlight, whose work is so vital for people living across the Top End.”

The 2026 program includes events for both new and experienced participants:

  • Open Triathlon (Ages 12 and above – individual or teams of 2–3)
    Swim: 250m | Bike: 7.5km | Run: 2.5km

  • 5km Kakadu Run Challenge (Ages 12 and above)

  • Junior Triathlon (Ages 13 and under – distances vary depending on age and ability)
