The West Arnhem Regional Council is pleased to announce that funding has been secured through the Rio Tinto Jabiru Social Infrastructure Fund to undertake urgent capital repairs, including the replacement of the facility roof.

After months of collaboration with key stakeholders, this outcome ensures that the necessary works can now proceed to restore and improve the safety and functionality of this important community service.

Mayor James Woods acknowledged the collective effort that made this possible, extending sincere thanks to Council, the Council’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team, Dr Emma Young of the Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation Jabiru Town (GACJT), Northern Territory Government, and  Rio Tinto Jabiru. Thanks also to Parks who will be project managing the childcare replacement roof.

“This is a great example of what can be achieved when stakeholders come together with a shared commitment to the community. The Council’s top priority has always been ensuring the safety of children, staff, and visitors, and this funding now allows us to carry out the essential repairs needed to achieve that,” Mayor James Woods said.

Council recognises that this period has been challenging for families and carers who rely on the service and extends appreciation for their patience and understanding. With funding now confirmed, work will progress as quickly as possible to complete the necessary repairs and reinstate full operations.
