Celebrating the inspiring women in Warruwi

The Warruwi Community held a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate International Women’s Day on Friday, 8 March with female staff from West Arnhem Regional Council, Yukti from Ajurumu Store, Jenny Manmururlu from the School and aged care client Pamela Newman.

Council Services Manager Matt Griffiths recognised the wonderful females and Elders in Warruwi. The women in attendance then spoke around a Women’s Yarning Space which they intend to commence in the coming weeks. The hope is for female leaders to talk to younger females and impart some wisdom about respecting themselves as well as others. 

Council’s Acting Wellbeing Services Coordinator in Warruwi Andie Hocking said, “I personally want to give thanks to being able to work and live in a community where there is such a passionate, vibrant female leadership whose voices are strong, loud and proud”.
