Another successful year for animal health in West Arnhem
West Arnhem Regional Council's Animal Management Program delivered fantastic outcomes for our communities in 2025.
Through the West Arnhem Land Dog Health Program (WALDHeP), led by the University of Melbourne, the program provides essential vet care to companion animals across the West Arnhem region, with strong support from Local Authorities.
2025 highlights across all five communities:
- 362 desexing surgeries
- 79 other surgeries
- 196 consultations
The team also visited every occupied home in Warruwi, Minjilang, Gunbalanya, and Maningrida, delivering parasite treatments to more than 600 dogs - many receiving care on multiple visits!
A big thank you to everyone involved for supporting healthier pets and stronger communities.
Keep an eye on Council’s website and Facebook page for upcoming vet visit dates, starting in the dry season.
