West Arnhem Regional Council (WARC) wishes to acknowledge the incredible efforts our Gunbalanya team is putting in, day in day out.
The teams, including youth, sport and recreation, utility support contract officers (USC) and community care and night patrol, are always going above and beyond to gain the best outcomes for community and Council. Over the last two weeks, WARC put a team together to tackle the ongoing concern of bush fires by pushing in firebreaks around the community boundary and mowing all the public areas.
Council has also carried out minor road works by filling in potholes in high traffic areas temporarily until the wet season comes to an end. Further works will continue in the dry season to allow more effective repairs. The team has also been focusing on hard rubbish collection and weed management in some of the problems areas.
Meanwhile, the school holiday program is well underway, with our youth, sport and recreation team facilitating daily activities including football, disco nights and fun activities to include all ages along with great giveaway prizes.
For our elderly people and NDIS clients, the Community Care team have been providing great meals which, breakfast and lunch and has been well received in the community with very positive feedback.
Our USC and works team had been busy coordinating maintenance and mowing at the aerodrome facility, with a break in the weather the team managed to address many outstanding maintenance issues.
All employees in Gunbalanya assisted in some way, shape or form in these tasks – showcasing their dedication and commitment to WARC and the community.
Traditional Owner Walter Nayinggul commented that the community is looking really great.
“Looking good around the community, thank you, us rangers will help keep it managed,” he said.
WARC Senior Works Officer Damian Blair said he is, “Very appreciative of the efforts put in by WARC staff to help make an impact for the betterment of the community.”
