West Arnhem Local Authority meeting begin for 2018

14 March 2018

Local Authority meetings throughout West Arnhem communities kicked off for 2018 this week in Warruwi and Maningrida.

Local Authorities, which are established in Minjilang, Warruwi, Gunbalanya and Maningrida, are comprised of community representatives and an elected Chairperson, who advise on specific Council community and social projects that impact on their community or region.

Each Local Authority has between 6 to 7 members with the Elected Ward members and Mayor also forming part of the Local Authority. This group of people will make sure that people in their community have a strong voice; make recommendations on behalf of the community and talk to the West Arnhem Regional Council about these issues.

Local Authority members will meet four times a year, for the next four years (a full Council term).
