Underwater hockey kicks off in Jabiru

22 February 2018

A new sport which has a focus on health, fun and fitness has kicked off in Jabiru this week and is something which is unlike any other in town.
Denise House has brought the sport of underwater hockey to Jabiru and is encouraging community members to come along and have a go at something which is new and exciting.
An introduction to underwater hockey was held on Wednesday, February 21 and was greatly received with a mix of children and adults enjoying the session which also included a four-on-four game.
As a result, a six week beginner’s course will start next Tuesday, February 27 from 5pm at the Jabiru Swimming Pool, and all are encouraged to attend.

As numbers grow, the group will be divided by age for games.
Denise says you don’t need to be the strongest swimmer, but willing to come along and try something different, which is not only fun, but also great for fitness and health.
If you are interested in having a try, you are encouraged to attend the sessions from next week, and bring your own fins, mask and snorkel if you have them.
