Providing safer roads in Gunbalanya

05 November 2020

Over the last three months, West Arnhem Regional Council’s Roads Supervisor Brad Farrell and the Gunbalanya works crew have been working extremely hard carrying out major road works and upgrades throughout the community.
The crew has been working on a number of different projects all of which are improving the quality of roads around the community and ultimately making it safer for everyone.
One of the major projects has been grading the road between 3 Ways and Cahill’s Crossing as well as addressing the washouts and blowouts in the section.
The crew have also carried out capital works around the Gunbalanya community itself, including the spoon drain outside the Council office and resheeting and reshaping road shoulders.
Local residents will also notice that all roads around the community have been upgraded in preparation for the wet season.
This groundwork has involved scraping major silt build up in various streets, washing with the water cart and sweeping and cleaning intersections.
Council Service Manager Dave Hurst said Brad and the works crew have done an incredible job completing all of these works which are fundamental to the community.
