Partnership with Orange Sky progresses into second year

11 February 2021

It has been just over a year since Mala’la Health Service embarked on a partnership journey with Orange Sky to provide free mobile laundry services to the people in Maningrida.
With overcrowding a common issue in remote communities, the team can do an incredible 20 loads of washing for one household alone.
To date, the team in Maningrida have done well over 2000 loads of washing, which is a staggering 30,150 kilograms!
Our team members, Linton Nabegeyo and Sasha Pearce, work together with various health programs and have utilised the 2000 hours of connection with the community to provide health education aimed at reducing preventable diseases such as scabies and rheumatic heart disease.
The van operates Monday to Friday and visits each of the five camps in community weekly.
Proud to be operating on the traditional land of the Kunibídji people, the laundry van carries the name 'Manayingkarirra', meaning 'the place where dreaming changed shape’.
