New duo in the Warruwi Radio hot seat

23 March 2018

Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association (TEABBA) Radio broadcaster and trainer Bernard Namok Jr ‘Bala B’ travelled out to Warruwi community on South Goulburn Island recently to train a new duo to sit in the broadcasting hot seat.
Warruwi Radio 106.1FM has welcomed Peter Gwadbu and Gail Ngalwungir to the microphone with Bala B providing an ‘Introduction to Radio Broadcasting’ and also teaching the many skills that come with radio broadcasting. Both Peter and Gail worked together as a team to learn everything about radio, audio recording and editing.
While in Warruwi, Bala B also helped the duo establish their own local radio show, while teaching voice editing and content with the pair venturing around the community to collect ‘voices’ for their local station ID’s.
After building their content for a one hour show around the community, Peter and Gail were able to go live to air on 106.1FM in Warruwi.
Following their training, Peter and Gail are now a part of many Remote Indigenous Broadcasting Services (RIBS) operators who are doing an awesome job out in the remote communities across the Top End. They are also a part of a bigger network of broadcasters in remote communities across the northern half of Australia who are maintaining language and entertaining mob in the communities.
Bala B is the West Arnhem representative for TEABBA Radio. Give Bala B a call at TEABBA to discuss your ideas, if TEABBA Radio is down, have coming events, regular segment ideas for mob in West Arnhem, ongoing catch-ups or LIVE outside broadcasts.
