Lions win Maningrida AFL Premiership

15 August 2017

The Maningrida Grand Final was a complete success, with the Lions running away premiers for 2017.
Aside from the main game, there was  both the women and kids of Maningrida showcasing their talent on the oval and it was a fantastic opportunity to give them the chance to be a part of the day. The day was full of colour, blue, white, gold and maroon wherever you look. Each team was accompanied by their cheerleaders who did a fantastic job.
The main game between Lions and Seagulls was absolutely sensational. The boys showcased some sublime talent with quick pace and electrifying skills. There was fantastic sportsmanship by both teams. We were very fortunate to have Chief Minister Michael Gunner, AFLNT Stuart Totham, No More’s Charlie King in attendance on the day. Thanks to everyone who supported us on the day, in particular MLA Lawrence Costa.
Recently Maningrida College also took seven girls to partake in the Under 15’s Mt Franklin Carnival. The girls played in a combined team with Xavier College from Tiwi and played outstandingly. The girls were competitive all day and only just fell short in the grand final against Tiwi College. Congratulations to Chanel, Tarnee, Annuncia and Lucielle for making the Kickstart squad.
