Inaugural Kakadu food festival draws crowd

Kakadu rangers cooked a ground oven for visitors to A Taste of Kakadu.

The first ever ‘A Taste of Kakadu’ has been popular with visitors and locals as they learn to cook, eat and live off the land with the local Indigenous Bininj/Mungguy people and experience flavours.
The interactive food festival is run by Parks Australia in collaboration with local tourism operators and Tourism NT, includes some 50 activities spread out across 10 days there is something to suit everyone and all tastes and budgets. Highlights of the festival have been a traditional brunch with local Bininj woman, Mandy Muir, champagne evenings with celebrity chefs Sharon Windsor and Zach Green and a tuckreoo mini master chef competition for children. There will also be a special fervor dining experience on Saturday, May 20 which will include an exclusive 10 course degustation at a secret location.
A Taste of Kakadu will conclude on Sunday, May 21.
