Cowgirl pop singer/songwriter Tracey Bunn will sound off on a luscious blend of Delta blues, country, folk and pop rock at Kakadu Groove on Saturday 19 July.

THE stage is set for a chilled evening of tunes by the lake. With its low-key setting and laid-back vibe, Lake Jabiru will be home to the sounds of Kakadu Groove on July 19. Bring a blanket or a chair, some good company and a beverage or two, and let the sultry sounds smooth your Saturday out into sunset.

Setting the scene will be legend of the West Coast blues scene Ivan Zar, and swinging country singer Tracey Bunn.

Living the life of the bluesman, travelling the highways with a steel Dobro guitar at his side, Ivan has been living and playing the blues for near-on five decades, recording vinyl, cassette and CD releases too numerous to mention as he performs up and down the West Coast and at blues festivals across the country.

Drawn to the blues at an early age, Ivan taught himself to play the harmonica and Delta blues-style guitar. In ‘68 he began writing his own songs and formed his first band, King Biscuit Co, and has supported many international touring acts.

Noted for his raw and passionate rhythmic country blues, Ivan is equally at home busking on a Dobro or fronting a Chicago combo on harp and vocals.

Part swing chanteuse, larrikin cowgirl and passionate witness, Aussie singer songwriter Tracey Bunn has spent over 20 years honing her craft, touring relentlessly in venues and festivals across Australia, Ireland, Europe and the UK, both solo and  with her original band the Toe Sucking Cowgirls.

Her exuberant live shows have garnered praise around the world and her songwriting has drawn a swag of awards. Her debut album ‘By The Wayside’ is produced by Anne McCue and recorded in Nashville with some of its finest musicians, including Aussie legends Bones Hillman and Mark Moffat,  with tracks reminiscent of kd lang and Patsy Cline.

Organisers of Jabiru’s free community music event are calling on local musicians and stallholders to get on board and help make the first of these July showcases an evening  to remember. If you want to dish up something sweet or savoury —  be it music, food, art  or craft  — there may be a space for you at Lake Jabiru too. If you want to get into the  Groove, contact Ashley or Mark ar West Arnhem Regional Council on 8979 9444  or Steve Wunderlich on 0427 381 172.
