Condolances sent to victim's family

31 January 2017

Cahill’s Crossing remains closed following the tragic death of a Gunbalanya resident, who lost his life attempting to cross the river, on January 19.
Members from Gunbalanya and Jabiru Police assisted by East Alligator Rangers attended the incident, with Northern Territory Police extending their condolences to the victim’s family.
Director of National Parks Sally Barnes and all Parks Australia and Kakadu staff have also sent their condolences to the family and friends of the man.
Sally said Kakadu staff displayed an incredible professionalism while assisting NT Police with the incident.
“Many thanks to our park staff, who have as they always do, gone above and beyond the call of duty to help the police with their operation. I’m extraordinarily proud of all of those involved – for their professionalism, their respect and their resilience.”
NT Police confirmed that the tragedy was a result of a crocodile attack.
