Celebrating its 5th year, Kakadu Triathlon proved again why it is one of Kakadu’s premium events.
The event has raised in excess of $50,000 for CareFlight over the past five years, with more than over $10,000 raised in 2017.
Expanding to incorporate a duathlon and market stall area, this year’s event engaged in excess of 300 participants across all age groups and three events – the triathlon, duathlon and junior triathlon. The junior category expanding three fold on previous years.
Not only did this year’s event celebrate the fifth anniversary, but it was also a part of the Top End Triathlon Festival which provides an opportunity to compete in three great events in Darwin, Jabiru and Katherine.
In the results, Jabiru residents featured strongly with Stuart Mobsby taking out the Individual Male title for the Duathlon, the Clontarf Team of Leith Waterbury, Matt Brady and Jordan Waterbury winning the Triathlon Team event and Josh Heatlie and Anthony Reid bringing it home for the Duathlon Team event. Event organisers wish to congratulate all participants for their efforts.
Congratulations also to the amazing children from Ngukurr and their supporters for their amazing efforts. It was great having them and everyone is proud of their achievements.
Special thanks to all who volunteered on the day and to the tireless Kakadu Triathlon committee.
A special mention also to Nate Chapman for his amazing fundraising efforts on the morning of the Triathlon, who not only competed, but also held a stall selling fruit salad and yogurt to raise money for CareFlight – Amazing effort Nate.
Raffle winners from the day include Dani Daly who won the $1000 travel voucher, James Kapui who won the Mother’s Day Raffle and David Smith who won the Easter raffle.
Event organisers are already looking forward to 2018.
