Back to school fun day a success in Maningrida

09 February 2017

Approximately 300 children, families, supporters and stakeholders attended the ‘Back to School’ fun day in Maningrida.

Maningrida’s Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation (BAC), who manage the Remote School Attendance Strategy (RSAS) program, organised a ‘Back to School’ fun day in conjunction to a range of local events recently.
The fun day initiative was to remind school children that school was starting the next day and the whole community came together to support the children and families.
It was also to remind families about the importance of education and that education needs to be tackled by a community-wide approach.
There was approximately 300 children plus families supporters and stakeholders at the fun day.
West Arnhem Regional Council (WARC) kindly allowed the usage of the community pool area to have the fun day and the lifeguards also volunteered their time for the day.
The CDP, RSAS and Night Patrol teams arranged a barbecue breakfast for all attendees including families and supporters.
All teams assisted in cooking up a feast for all, and there were pancakes, beans and buffalo burgers.
It was great to see that all teams banded together in support of this great event.
GREATS Youth Service also kindly donated the use of the inflatable slip and slide which was a great hit with all children.
The RSAS team would like to thank all supporters for all events.
