Awards recognise West Arnhem health workers

Nursing and Midwifery Award winner Stuart Mobsby from Jabiru Health Clinic with Clint, Mark (finalist), Sophie (finalist) and Mercy from Maningrida Health Clinic at the Excellence in Remote Health Nursing/Widwifery Awards gala dinner on Saturday, May 13.

Three West Arnhem health workers have been recognised for their selfless work after being named as finalists in the 2017 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
Sophie Eakins and Mark from the Maningrida Clinic and Stuart Mobsby from Jabiru Health Clinic were nominated for the awards which recognise the outstanding service which nurses and midwives provide across the Northern Territory.
Stuart, who is a nurse practitioner in Jabiru and Gunbalanya, deservedly won the Excellence in Remote Health Nursing/Midwifery award at the gala dinner in Darwin on Saturday, May 13.
Stuart, who also participated in and won at the Kakadu Triathlon just hours before attending the event, said he was blown away just to be nominated and wished to thank his wife and colleagues for their support.
“I am honoured to get this award,” he said, “and recognise the team work at Jabiru and Gunbalanya who all strive to achieve great health outcomes.”
“It’s a great team environment and everyone is dedicated to what they do.”
Now in their 14th year, the awards are for nurses and midwives who go beyond the call of duty to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of Territorians.
The Health Minister Natasha Fyles said a record 153 nominations were received, recognising the exceptional efforts of nurses and midwives across 14 select areas.
“This celebration is so important to acknowledge the nurses and midwives who make up the back bone of the Northern Territory’s health service,” Ms Fyles said.
