A COMMITTED environmental campaigner from West Arnhem has won the 2014 ConocoPhillips Environment Award at this year’s Young Achiever Awards in Darwin. Alice Eather received her award at a Gala Presentation Dinner at Skycity on Saturday 5 April. Ms Eather, a young indigenous Traditional Owner from Maningrida, is a teacher, campaign leader, and environmental advocate. Ms Eather is a leader in a campaign opposing fracking off the Arnhem Land coast.Read more

KAKADU has some of the most beautiful wetlands in the world. But for the Bininj kids on board the Kakadu Cultural Tours boat the Guluyambi , it goes so much deeper than that. For these children, the Jabiru Area School excursion the Magela Wetlands on Thursday 13 March is also about connecting with country. Their guide for the day is Neville Namarnyilk, who also happens to be Bininj. Neville has a wealth of knowledge of the wildlife of the area, along with dreaming stories, traditional survival skills, bush tucker, and medicine. Interest has grown not only among locals, but among hardcore triathletes around the country, following the runaway success of the inaugural event.
